Cineconchas 2010

Summer arrived at Alta de Lisboa and with it, one more session of CineConchas, an outdoor cinema showing, that for the third consecutive year has been organised in partnership between EGEAC (Cultura em Lisboa- Culture in Lisbon), the Centro Social da Musgueira (Social Centre) and Viver na Alta de Lisboa (Living in Alta de Lisboa). The initiative has no entrance fee and takes place between July 1st and July 24th in Parque das Conchas, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9.45pm.

In the 3rd edition of CineConchas some of the most important films of the recent years will be shown, such as “Slumdog Millionaire”, winner of the Oscar for Best Film in 2009, “Invictus”, by Morgan Freeman and “Twilight”, by Catherine Hardwicke. There will also be room for the great classics such as “Vertigo”, by Alfred Hitchcock or “Amadeus”, by Milos Forman. As for European cinema, the Spanish film “Volver”, by Almodovar and ‘Welcome to the Land of Shtis”, a funny French comedy, will be presented.

Children were definitely not forgotten and they have sessions dedicated entirely to them, with the showing of two animated films, “The Princess and the Frog” and “Up”, winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Film in 2010.

In 2009, the CineConchas joined more than 8,650 spectators, in 12 sessions. This year, the organisation expects to exceed this number, which has already been confirmed in first editions.

Alta de Lisboa is proud to receive one more edition of Cineconchas, which has vastly contributed to the dynamic of life in this new neighbourhood of the city and has aided in bonding its inhabitants through common interests. SGAL continuously renews its support of this event which has already become a reference in the cultural panorama of the city of Lisbon.
